Since around 1870 boats have been built in Krimpen ad Lek, at first only rowing boats for inland waterways were built, from 1925 started building wooden lifeboats for passenger vessels and cargo vessels. Name changed in 1978 into Polyrep, an update required to convey the evolving nature of the yard’s activities, which now focuses on the repair and maintenance of mainly polyester-based lifeboats and other rescue craft.
In 2008 Polyrep moved to new fully equipped location in Hellevoetsluis, conveniently near the harbour of Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Terneuzen, Vlissingen and Antwerp.
